Strategic Advising

An experienced advisor on any area we work in, by the hour or on retainer. No package or prior engagement needed.

The problem this solves

Not every question needs a project.

A dean wants a second opinion before a decision.

A chair wants to pressure-test a plan.

A tutoring director has one problem that won’t go away.

Strategic advising gives you an experienced advisor for exactly as much time as the question needs: a single hour, a few sessions, or an ongoing retainer while your team carries out a change.

Who it’s for

For any area we work in.

Leaders at colleges, universities, schools, and districts working on curriculum and assessment, AI in courses, TA training, tutoring programs, or academic support. You don’t need to book another service first.

Advising can

Stand on its own
Support work your own team is leading
Continue after another Orango engagement

What’s included

From one question to ongoing support.

01

Hourly advising sessions

A focused session on one question: a policy draft, a program plan, a hiring decision, or a second opinion.

02

Implementation planning

Turning goals into a sequence of concrete, achievable steps.

03

Progress tracking

Measuring outcomes against the goals you set at the start.

04

Problem-solving

Working through obstacles as they come up, before they stall the work.

05

Clear updates for deans, provosts, and boards on progress and results.

Format & duration

Hourly or on retainer.

Available two ways: hourly, for focused questions or a second opinion, or as an ongoing retainer. Retainer meetings can be weekly, biweekly, or monthly, set by your goals and what is being implemented, and the cadence can change as the work moves forward.

Scope & pricing

Billed hourly, or scoped as a retainer.

Hourly advising is billed at an hourly rate. Retainers are scoped per institution based on the scale of the work and the level of support.
