Students can get an answer, an explanation, or a finished essay in seconds. Most institutions have responded with AI policies. Far fewer have redesigned the systems that are supposed to produce understanding.
When AI can complete the work, a finished assignment stops being evidence that a student understands the material.
Office hours, TA sessions, and tutoring centers were designed for students who lacked access to explanations. That is no longer the bottleneck.
The line between AI as a learning tool and AI as a replacement for learning is rarely drawn clearly for students, instructors, or TAs.
Services
Five services in three areas: building the support around students, redesigning what they’re taught, and expert advice whenever you need it.
Not sure where to begin? Book an experienced advisor by the hour or on retainer, on any question in teaching, assessment, tutoring, or student support. No package required.
Build, launch, or revamp a tutoring program that helps students succeed and supports recruitment and retention.

Learn more →Why Orango
Orango began as a tutoring company: over 7,000 hours of instruction with more than 500 students since 2021, delivered by a tutor team we built and trained ourselves. Session after session, students arrived having passed through every part of the system without anyone catching the real problem. This is the chain we saw break, again and again.
A concept is taught once, to the whole class.
A student leaves with a wrong mental model and may not know it.
Office hours and TAs answer the question, not the underlying error.
AI or an outside tutor supplies a pattern that works for now.
Later material builds on a foundation that isn't there.
As tutors, we see exactly where this chain breaks. As consultants, we fix it at the source, for every student instead of one at a time.
The Orango Method
Borrowed from process engineering: define the outcome, map the system, find where it fails, and fix the root cause. The outcome we care about is students who actually understand.
Your students, courses, support structure, and AI policies.
Find recurring breakdowns and their root causes.
Training, curriculum, or workflow, targeted at the cause.
Train your people and put the changes into practice.
Track outcomes and refine based on the data.

Founder
Matt spent the early part of his career finding out why complex systems fail to produce the results they should, and fixing the root cause. He brought that mindset to education, building Orango's "why"-based teaching method and a tutor team trained to deliver it. Orango Consulting applies the same thinking at the scale of a course, a department, or an institution.
More about Matt →For tutoring companies & startups
Generic, answer-the-question tutoring now competes with a free chatbot. Tutors who teach why concepts work, so well that it carries into any course and any professor's curriculum, don't. We help tutoring companies and founders make that shift, with advice from someone who has built and run a tutoring company.
Questions
With a conversation about what you're seeing. From there we scope the work together. Most engagements begin small, with a diagnostic of one course or program.
Projects are scoped and priced individually, with a written proposal before any work begins. Strategic advising is available hourly or on retainer.
Yes. Our instruction spans high school through college, and the same principles apply to schools and districts: teacher training, tutoring programs, assessment design, and guidance on AI.
Our deepest experience is in STEM, especially chemistry. Our methods for diagnosing confusion, training instructors, and designing assessments apply across subjects.
Yes. A few hours of advising, a half-day TA training, or a single-course diagnostic are all common starting points.
Tell us about your institution, your courses, and what you're seeing. We'll tell you honestly whether and how we can help.
